SRINAGAR, Dec 8:  A youth drove more than 1500 kilometers to attend and listen to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s maiden speech in Srinagar saying that he is fan of the PM.
Ashutosh Sharma, 28, a technical degree holder said that he started his journey from Indore city of Central India’s Madhya Pradesh to Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar city to listen to his favourite leader here. “I am a staunch follower of Modi ji. I attended his rallies in some States before this to listen to him,” he said, adding, it was his heartfelt desire to listen Modi in places like Kashmir.
Sharma was all praise for Modi’s style of working in the country and said his (Modi’s) way of addressing massive rallies have impressed him. “Addressing election rally in places like Kashmir was really interesting for everyone, as his (Modi’s) style of handling the situation was unique in the country,” he said, adding, he wanted to observe how Modi would deliver his speech in Kashmir. He, however, said that he was surprised to see such a tight security in the city.
A tourist couple from Rajasthan postponed their scheduled visit to world famous tourist resort Gulmarg to listen to the “vibrant” speech of Modi. “We are on three day visit to Kashmir. Luckily, Modi ji’s scheduled visit to Kashmir coincides with ours, and we preferred to attend Modi’s rally over picnic,” they said.
The couple said that they were happy to see a huge number of Kashmiri people thronging to the venue despite heavy security cover and atmosphere of “insecurity” due to the prevailing situation here.
“Modi ji’s speech touched our hearts as he promised development of the state- particularly Kashmir, which really people of Kashmir need presently,” they said, adding, Kashmir has tremendous potential for tourism industry and other developmental projects. “What we saw on ground, it really needs a change and would be possible under his (Modi’s) rule,” they said.
