RAJOURI, Oct 16: The dead body of a young woman hailing from Mendhar area of Poonch was recovered from a nallah in Rajouri town here this morning.
The deceased has been indentified as 25-year-old Rakia Begum, wife of Imtiaz, resident of Dhar Galoon in Mendhar. Some people noticed the body lying in a nallah in Kheora area, near Bela Colony and informed police. A police party from Rajouri Thana rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Rajouri hospital where her family members later also reached and identified her.
A police official said as per her family, Rakia was mentally unsound. She was under treatment in Jammu hospital. She had been taken to Jammu by her brother and another family member and they were returning from there. They got late and stayed in a local hotel at Rajouri. During midnight, Rakia went missing and their family members started her search since early morning. Later, they came to know about the recovery of a body from nallah and reached there. They identified her.
He said that police registered a case and started investigation under 174 CrPC. The body of the deceased was handed over to the family after postmortem. No external injury was visible on the body.
