Young pilgrim’s body found hanging near Vaishnodevi track

KATRA, May 20: Mystery shrouds the death of a young  pilgrim from Haryana, whose dead body was found hanging from a tree near Ban Ganga, at some distance from Shri Mata Vaishnodevi yatra track this evening.
The police said the body was found hanging from a tree with the help of a rope,  used  for noose at Parana  Dhrod, near Ban Ganga at around 4.30 pm today. A pilgrim who moved aside for easing,  noticed the body and informed other yatris passing by that area. Then they contacted Katra police through Control Room.
The police party led by SHO Katra rushed to the spot, which  examined the spot and then shifted the  body to Katra base hospital for identification  and postmortem.
The police said that Aadhaar Card was found in the pocket of the deceased, on which his name and address has been mentioned as  Vijay Kumar (23), son of Mela Ram, resident of H.No. 83,  Chhattiwali Gali, Ganjot, Panipat (Haryana).  A senior police officer said that Panipat Police has been informed about the matter. Further investigation was in progress. He said the police was working on both the angles including murder and suicide.
