MENDHAR, May 9:  Mystery shrouds the death of young man whose dead body was recovered from a Nallah in Gursai area of Mendhar in district Poonch today.
The police identified the deceased as  Talat Mehmood (30),  son of  Mehmood Khan, resident of Nimma village in Gursai.  The family members claimed that Talat left home  for work at Mendhar in the morning on Monday  and did not return home last evening and they were searching for him.
Police said  Talat, a father of three children, was  associated with the business of  `Kawad’  at  Mendhar town for the last several years. A villager noticed his body lying about 600 meters away from his house, lying down in the Nallah  this morning and in formed the family.  A large number  of  villagers  gathered there.
The people informed Gursai police. After sometime, the police party led by SHO Gursai arrived there. The deceased had some injury  marks  visible on the body. The police examined the spot and after collecting circumstantial evidence, shifted the body to Sub District Hospital, Mendhar for postmortem.  After completion of legal formalities, the police handed over the body to the family for last rites.
Sub Divisional Police Officer, Mendhar, DySP Riaz Tantray when contacted said that the deceased had injuries on his head and some other parts. A theory is also being given by his relatives that Talat was suffering from frequent fits and he might have rolled down during that period.  But the possibility of murder  can’t  be ruled out as no such medical record has been produced by them.  Tantray said that inquest proceedings under section 174 CrPC have been initiated in this regard.
