SRINAGAR, May 10: Youth National Conference today supported a dialogue with Pakistan and all other stakeholders for restoring permanent peace in the region.
Adopting a unanimous resolution at one-day youth orientation programme at NC headquarters here today in presence of senior party leaders, Ali Mohd Sagar, Dr Mustafa Kamaal and Nasir Aslam Wani, the YNC fully supported initiation of dialogue process with all stake holders by New Delhi for the restoration of peace in Kashmir.
Hundreds of youth workers and office bearers of the party from the youth-wing attended the orientation program which was conducted to deliberate on various current, political issues and also place historical facts and incidents in the right, fair and objective perspective. The program was inaugurated by NC general secretary and former minister Ali Mohammad Sagar in the presence of senior party leaders.
Speaking on the occasion, Sagar highlighted the importance of political awareness among the youth as the key for political empowerment and emancipation. “The youth should be aware of the history of our people who have struggled against tyranny and various intrigues at frequent intervals in our history. National Conference, especially its youth activists, have always played a leading role in standing on the side of justice and empowerment. In the present circumstances, it becomes all the more important to engage with the youth and inform them about our stand on various issues and the historical perspective about the party’s struggle for the common man and his rights”, Sagar said.
Provincial president, Aslam Wani while appreciating the efforts of the party’s youth wing to conduct such programs despite the prevailing situation in the State said youth of the State hold the key to a future of dignity, justice and integrity for the State. “Our future depends on your youth and you have to ensure that our youngsters are made aware of history in its right context in the face of sustained propaganda by divisive forces to distort history”, Wani said.
Youth National Conference provincial president, Salman Sagar thanked the party leadership for its continued encouragement and support to the party’s youth wing and said the youth would continue to organize such programs and conventions to reach out to the youth. “Our effort should be to bridge small differences and unite for the common goal of fighting for our people and their dignity. The youth of the State has to play an important role in guiding the State out of the present atmosphere of hopelessness and despair”, Salman said.
He condemned the anti-youth policy of the State Government in the wake of wanton arrests, indiscriminate harassment and imposition of PSAs on the youth.
Prominent among others present included Sharif-ud-dinShariq, Mohd Sayeed Akhoon, Shammi Oberoi, Peer Mohd Afaq, Junaid Mattu, Mushtaq Guroo, Yunis Mubarak Gul and Imran Nabi Dar, Mudassir Shahmiri, Mir Iqbal Qasba and Abid Wani.
