CHANDIGARH, June 5: On World Environment Day, Yamaha Motor India Group distributed over 10,000 ‘Tulsi’ saplings among its employees, select dealers and customers across the country as part of its efforts to save the environment and improve the air quality.
In addition to this, free pollution check-up camps were also organized at 21 dealerships in various cities including Delhi, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Guwahati, Bhubaneswar etc.
A handout stated that various employee engagement activities were also conducted within the group companies, including screening of environmental protection video, quiz contests, Kaizan initiatives, banner display and tree plantation activity, to create awareness on the actions required to be taken by each individual to protect the environment.
Motofumi Shitara, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group of Companies said, “Yamaha globally is implementing strategic, long-term ‘Yamaha Motor Group Environmental Plan 2050’ which aims to reduce CO2 emissions during manufacturing and ‘reduction in the volume of resources usage’ by 50 per cent from the base year of 2010 by the target year 2050.”
Meanwhile employees at all Yamaha plants and office locations took a pledge to make best efforts to protect the environment and conservation of energy.
