YAIKS activists protest at Parliament Street, arrested

NEW DELHI, Oct 21: Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) which had taken a rath yatra to Union Capital from Jammu in support of their demands today protested at Parliament Street demanding permanent rehabilitation of exiled Pandits in their native land Kashmir.
The protest was led by YAIKS president R K Bhat and the activists of the organization shouted slogans in support of their demands.
Earlier the YAIKS activists marched towards the Raj Ghat to pay obeisance at the Samadhi of Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi and also paid homage to all martyrs killed during last 25 years of turmoil.
The protestors with banners and flags in their hands accused the successive State and Central Governments of betraying the displaced Pandits and urged the Government to put its return formula in practice by outlining the blue print of the same.
The protestors later marched to Parliament Street and staged a dharna there.
In the evening they tried to take out a candle light procession towards the India Gate from Parliament Street but the police did not allow the same, a YAIKS spokesman said.
He said that police also cane charged the activists and they were arrested by parliament Street Police Station.
R K Bhat later condemned the Government action and warned to continue struggle till Government comes out with a clear cut policy on the displaced Pandits rehabilitation.
