Joint mission team calls on Omar

SRINAGAR, Oct 21: A joint mission led by Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India and representatives of World Bank and Asian Development Bank which is here to make preliminary assessment of requirement of multilateral assistance for disaster recovery and reconstruction needs of Jammu and Kashmir after devastating floods, this afternoon called on Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and discussed various aspects of the subject.
The Chief Minister highlighted the magnitude of the flood and its devastation claiming precious human lives, damaging public infrastructure, private property and standing crops, perishing cattle and inflicting huge losses to trade, business and industry.
Omar Abdullah welcomed the intension of the joint mission to extend helping hand to the State and providing necessary assistance for disaster recovery and reconstruction of the State. He said the challenge is gigantic and requires comprehensive, coordinated and determined strategy to achieve the goal of reconstructing Jammu and Kashmir and reviving livelihood of the people.
