JAMMU, June 26: Welfare Society Guru Nanak Nagar (WSGNN) here today has urged upon Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to get the Nallah flowing between Sectors 11 and 12 in Nanak Nagar cleared of all the blocking materials like silt.
In a meeting WSGNN president, Balwinder Singh Rinku stated that monsoon season is about to onset and the Nallah if not cleaned properly may add to the miseries of the people.
The Welfare Society claimed that the Nallah stands much narrowed at some places due to which flooding in its surrounding areas is affecting thousands of people by restricting their movements while dirty water of Nallah enters adjoining houses with stinking filth leaving behind dangerous slurry capable of spreading many deceases besides sometimes dangerous insects and snakes also enters public residences endangering life of the people.
The Welfare Society members also stated that in some homes the dirty water enters underground water storage tanks and even damages the cars parked in the area.
They said that some people throw filth, garbage and other wastes in the Nallah which further enhances its choking.
A.S Khera, WSGNN chairman; Pawan Sharma, senior vice president; Sanjeev Talwar, vice president; Vikas Bhardwaj, vice president; Maninder Singh Narula, general secretary; Jatinder Kumar Bittu, Harjeet Singh cashier; Rajinder Verma, Pardeep Nanda, Malvinder Singh and others were also present in the meeting.
