World Heritage Day

Sir,
This has reference to the World Heritage Day that was observed throughout the world. Though the day has been dedicated to world heritage sites, it is quite imperative that local heritage which too is of great importance from cultural and historical perespectives be taken care of. Jammu and Kashmir has the distinction of having many heritage sites which presently are in a shambles. These sites have played a great role in promoting art and architecture in the State. This legacy needs to be protected to pass it on to the coming generations. In case that does not happen, it will be a great loss to people of the State. The sentiments of people are attached with this legacy, and they need to be respected.
It is a matter of concern that the much publicised Mubarak Mandi complex is still under renovation process. One does not know how much more time, it will take for the concerned authorities to restore its past glory.
