JAMMU, Dec 27: An awareness workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) was organized by National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELlT) J&K in collaboration with the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), Jammu Chapter.
Bipul Pathak, Commissioner Secretary IT, Science & Technology, who was the chief guest on the occasion, emphasized the need and importance of holding such awareness workshops for understanding different aspects of Intellectual Property Rights.
A H Moon, Director, NIELlT J&K, highlighted the role and importance of protecting scientific work done by researchers and scientists by recognition and registration of intangible patents developed by them in different fields particularly in IECT sector.
He highlighted the recent initiatives taken by NIELIT and DeitY, Gol, in organizing Indo-European level conference on patents for computer implemented innovations in association with Europeans Patent Office (EPU).
Dr R K Raina, Consultant, Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (IIIM), Jammu, delivered keynote address on IPR process through a power point presentation. He gave a brief account of work done in patenting different processes at IIM Jammu.
Prof G M Bhat, HoD Electronics & Instrumentation Technology, University of Kashmir, made a detailed presentation on identification and filing of patents under the provision laid down in IPR. He highlighted the work being done in this area in KU.
Joy Ganjoo, president, IETE Jammu Chapter, spoke on thoughts, ideas and international aspects of patenting under IPR.
Students, faculty of NIELIT J&K, members and office bearers of IETE, senior officers from J&K Government and representatives of various industrial associations attended the workshop.
Susheel K Gabgotra, Joint Director NIELlT J&K, presented the vote of thanks while Rajneesh Raina conducted proceedings of the workshop.
