Workshop on ‘Gandhian Values’ concludes

JAMMU, Oct 9: Two day workshop on “Moral, Ethics and Values” organised by Gandhian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, University of Jammu in collaboration with Vichar Kranti Manch International, concluded today.
During the workshop, representatives from Vichar Kranti Manch International, Gandhi Peace Foundation, students and research scholars from the Department of Political Science and from Gandhian Centre, University of Jammu, participated.
Prof Jigar Mohd, Dean Social Science, was the chief guest. He showed the concern about limited applicability of values and ethics in contemporary society inspite of the fact that it forms the basis of the survival of any society.
Prof Gangal, Director, Gandhian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies in his welcome address focused upon the need to inculcate value system to bring any kind of positive change through peaceful methods in contemporary society.
Dr RR Khajuria, Founder, Vichar Kranti Manch International, said that the Manch has adopted 20 schools, in which moral ethics and values are bring taught.
Ashok Gupta from the Manch, Shreyansh Kumar Jain, president of the Manch and Harjinder Singh, general secretary also expressed their views.
Dr Seema Rohmetra, Asstt Prof, The Law School, Local Coordinator, Gandhian Peace Foundation, New Delhi, highlighted the role of the ethics in building a sound polity and made a presentation on Gandhian perspective on spiritualization of politics.
On the concluding day today, interaction session was organised in which various issues including how to develop an orientation regarding morality and ethics with respect to the role of teachers, parents and civil society, what kind of the incentive should be offered to the students fraternity so that they can come forward in plying the value systems in real life situation and role of institutions particularly the educational institutions in including the independent subjects on ethics and morality in their respective curriculum.
Among others present were Ajeet Singh Nagra, Madan Mohan Sharma, Ram Rattan Sharma, Chander Mohan Sharma, Dr KC Dubey, Yog Raj Sharma, Prof Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Prof KK Mishra, Dr Monica Narang, etc.
