Workshop on Career Counselling organised at GDC Marh

JAMMU, Aug 24: Career Counselling Cell of the Government Degree College, Marh was organised a one day workshop cum awareness programme on Career Counselling in collaboration with EIAB, DLL, University of Jammu.
Prof. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul, Principal of the college said that career counselling will help the students to make decisions about their careers, clarify values, interests and skills for developing their overall personality. Such programmes and workshops act as a tool of growth and development for the students.
The special resource persons were Dr Shallu Sehgal, Senior Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, University of Jammu and Dr Neetu Dhar, chief coordinator and master trainer, JKDCUL.
Dr Shallu Sehgal in her presentation, illustrated stories of various entrepreneurs such as Lijjit papad, Anita Devi (Mushroom Cultivation), Pabiben Rabari who transformed and uplifted their society. She also highlighted different Government initiatives such as Startup India, Stand up India, Farmers Producer Organizations and ATAL Innovation Mission (2015) for Entrepreneurship Development.
Dr Neetu Dhar discussed Self image, Self Esteem and Self Development. In the last session Dr Rewa Khajuria, Counsellor, EIAB, DLL, highlighted various programmes run by the Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu.  She also gave a detailed review of need, importance and methods of career Counselling.
Around 60 students of the college gave feedback and appreciated the programme. An interactive session with the students was also held wherein students expressed their views and queries about job, business oriented platforms. The programme was held under the supervision of Prof. Kavita Suri, Director, Department of Lifelong Learning (DLL) and coordinated by Dr. Rewa Khajuria, Counsellor, EIAB, DLL. Prof. Madhvi Parasher, Coordinator, Career Counselling Cell of the college conducted the proceedings of the programme by Prof. Anjana Chib. Members of Career Counselling committee of the college; Dr Shakun Sharma, Dr. Sheetal Sharma and Ravi Kumar organised the event.
