KATRA, Feb 6: A week-long workshop on 3D Printing and New Product Development began today at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra.
The workshop has been organized by the Technology Innovation Hub, SMVDU with an objective to disseminate knowledge of 3D printing and its role in the new product development so as to promote start-up culture in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
The workshop is being attended by over 30 participants from across the UT of J&K. The workshop is being coordinated jointly by Prof K R Jha (Dean, FoE), Dr Sanjay Mohan (Asst Prof, School of Mechanical Engineering), Ankush Raina (Asst Prof, School of Mechanical Engineering) and Mir Irfan Ul Haq (Asst Prof, School of Mechanical Engineering).
Pertinent to mention that the Technology Innovation Hub, SMVDU is being funded by a project of Higher Education Department, UT of Jammu and Kashmir. The event shall include lectures by faculty from institutes of national importance and industry professionals from diverse backgrounds. Hands-on training related to 3D printing and related softwares shall be imparted to the participants during the week-long course.
Dr Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor, SMVDU presided over the inaugural function. He stressed upon the need of holding such workshops on new technological developments regularly keeping in view the vision of GoI for Viksit Bharat 2047 and Make in India campaign.
Prof K R Jha (Dean, FoE) also spoke at the occasion. Dr Mir Irfan Ul Haq (Co-Coordinator) delivered the welcome address. Dr Sanjay Mohan (Co-Coordinator) of the event delivered the vote of thanks. Prof Balbir Singh (Dean of Academic Affairs), Prof E Muthuswamy (Head, SME), faculty and staff members, scholars and other coordinators of the Technology Innovation Hub SMVDU were also present in the function.
