SAMBA, Jan 27: The DDC Samba, Mubarak Singh today inaugurated 2-day training program with a focus on protecting the precious lives during natural and manmade disasters which was organized by the “Doctors for You”, NGO in collaboration with State Health Society for the ASHA workers.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that there is strong need for organizing such training programmes to impart training to the officer/officials to enhance the level of preparedness, rescue, relief and rehabilitation. Such trainings built the capacity and sharpen the skills to provide immediate relief to the affected people and the timely intervention saves the precious lives and reduces the level of damage/losses of the lives and property.
The DDC further said that the aim of disaster management training is to build the capacity of staff and volunteers, to improve preparedness and response at all levels before during and after disasters and means to work together in a coordinated manner.
It was informed that during the training program on disaster management, the participants were given preparedness tips as well as ways to overcome barriers that could prevent workers from performing at full capacity or slow down their ability to work at all.
Dr Yadav from NGO presented a detailed account of the activities that would be undertaken during the two days workshop through power point presentation and also discussed various aspects of the disaster management and mitigation system and informed that the focus of disaster management training is not only for improving the technical skills of the participants, but also on personnel and team management.
Among others, Chief Medical Officer Samba Dr. Kartar Chand, Medical Superintendent Dr. Ramesh, Staff of the hospital besides ASHA Workers were also present on the occasion.
