SRINAGAR, Jan 27: The 66th Republic Day was celebrated across the Kashmir valley with great enthusiasm, gaiety and fervour.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Rohit Kansal was the chief guest at Republic Day function at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar where he unfurled the Tricolour and inspected guard of honour.
Later, he took salute of the march past, in which contingents of BSF, CRPF, ITBP, J&K Armed Police, IRP, Women’s Police Force, District Police, NCC, Fire & Emergency Services and students of various educational institutions participated.
On the occasion, artists of Information Department, Cultural Academy, Youth Services and Sports and students of various schools presented a scintillating cultural bonanza.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone, A G Mir, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Shah, SSP Srinagar, Amit Kumar and other civil and police officers were present on the occasion.
Addressing the function, the Divisional Commissioner said that Republic Day is the most significant day in the history of the country. Recalling the sacrifices of great leaders of the country for strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and amity, Mr Kansal said that leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and J L Nehru laid a strong edifice of brotherhood, amity and communal harmony in the country.
The Divisional Commissioner prayed for the peace, progress and prosperity of the State as well as the country on the occasion.
BARAMULLA: Republic Day was celebrated at District headquarters where the Deputy Commissioner, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone unfurled National Flag and took salute at the march past. Contingents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, Forest Protection Force and School children participated in the march past.
DIG, NKR, Gh Hassan Bhat and SSP Baramulla, officers of Police and Civil administration were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of Republic Day and threw light on the role played by civil administration during the 2014 elections, besides the measures undertaken for relief and rehabilitation of flood affected people.
The Deputy Commissioner during his speech appealed people of the district to cooperate and coordinate in making the district a Model district.
Republic Day celebrations were also held at both Sub-Divisions and Tehsil headquarters in the district. At Sopore, SDM Sopore, Khurshid Ahmad Shah hoisted the National Flag, and took salute at the March-Past attended by the contingents of JKP, JKAP and CRPF while as at Uri SDM Sheikh Abdul Aziz hoisted the National Flag and took salute at the march-past presented by contingents of security forces, Fire & Emergency Services and school children.
ANANTNAG: The day was celebrated with full fervor and gaiety at Government Degree College for Boys Anantnag where Deputy Commissioner Tasaduq Jeelani hoisted the National Flag and took salute at the march past.
The Deputy Commissioner appealed the people to maintain brotherhood, amity and communal harmony, which are prerequisite for prosperity and development.
A march past was presented by J&K Police, CRPF, JKAP, Fire and Emergency Services, NCC Cadets and students of various schools. Scintillating cultural programmes were presented by school children and artists of Department of Information.
Similar functions were also held at all Tehsil headquarters of the district where respective Tehsildars unfurled the National Flag. At Pahalgam, the Tricolour was unfurled by Sub Divisional Magistrate, Mohammad Aslam who took salute at the march past on the occasion.
KULGAM: The day was celebrated with enthusiasm and gaiety at Degree College where senior officers of Police and Civil administration were present on the occasion.
Deputy Commissioner, Nissar Hussain Wani unfurled the National Flag and took salute at the march past.
The Deputy Commissioner highlighted the significance of being republic and said that with the sacrifices of great leaders of the country, the people were empowered through the implementation of the Constitution.
March past was held by contingents of J&K Police, CRPF, JKAP, Fire and Emergency Services, NCC Cadets and students of various schools. Scintillating cultural programmes were presented by school children and artists of Department of Information.
BUDGAM: The Republic Day was also celebrated at Sports Stadium here. Deputy Commissioner, Manzoor Ahmad Lone unfurled the National Flag and took salute at the march past. Contingents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, Forest Protection Force and School children participated in the march past.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner emphasised on various values and objectives enshrined in the constitution like secularism, sovereignty and socialism. He also highlighted various fundamental rights guaranteed to citizens by the constitution and at the same time reminded people of their responsibilities towards the prosperity and development.
Colourful cultural programmes were also presented on the occasion.
Among others, senior officers of Police and Civil administration were present on the occasion.
PULWAMA: The 66th Republic Day was celebrated across the district and the main function was held at District Police Lines where the Deputy Commissioner, Sajad Ahmad Khan unfurled the National Flag and took salute at the march past. Contingents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, Forest Protection Force and school children participated in the march past.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized on the importance of democracy in the country, adding that era of peace, progress and prosperity has been ensured due to participation of people in the democratic set up of the country. He said education has a pivotal role in transforming the State and enables to achieve the goals of welfare and development.
SHOPIAN: The day was celebrated at the District Headquarters with Deputy Commissioner, Bashir Ahmad Bhat unfurling the National Flag at Fruit Mandi and taking salute at the march past by contingents of District Police, CRPF, IRP, JKAP, Fire and Emergency Services, Home Guard, NCC and students of various schools of the district.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that after attaining freedom, the country has made strides in various sectors particularly education, science, agriculture, health, power and other fields. He said India is the largest democracy in the world where everyone enjoys fundamental rights.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner distributed prizes among the best cadets and students for presenting colourful cultural programmes. Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner, senior officers of Police and Civil administration were present.
BANDIPORA: The Republic Day was celebrated at Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium, Bandipora where the Deputy Commissioner, Dr Shah Faisal was the chief guest, who hoisted the National Flag and took salute at the march past. Contingents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, Forest Protection Force and School children participated in the march past.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner said that the massive developments in the fields of agriculture, education, horticulture, health and improving the socio-economic conditions of the people shall be ensured in the district. He reminded the people about the glorious traditions of amity, peaceful co-existence, mutual brotherhood and tolerance.
Similar function was held at Gurez where Sub Divisional Magistrate Gurez, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Shah unfurled the Tricolour and took salute at the march past.
KUPWARA: The main function was held at District Police Lines where Deputy Commissioner Itrat Hussain Rafique unfurled the National Flag and took salute. Contingents of CRPF, IRP, JKAP, JKP, Forest Protection Force and School children participated in the march past.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner stressed upon the importance of Republic Day, adding that the Constitution of the country was framed to envisage equality to all its citizens. He said that today the country is witnessing development in all spheres and Jammu and Kashmir is also marching towards development.
Similar functions were also held at Handwara and Karnah Tehsils where Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara and Sub Divisional Magistrate Karnah unfurled the Tricolour and took salute at the march pasts respectively.
GANDERBAL: Deputy Commissioner, Sarmad Hafeez unfurled the National Flag at Ganderbal and took salute at the march past.
The contingents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, Forest Protection Force and School children participated in the march past.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that Constitution of the country ensures for maintaining peace, amity and brotherhood in the State. He reiterated that efforts have been made to improve the socio-economic status of the people by implementing various welfare and developmental schemes.
