Working with children was challenging: Navin Aggarwal

 

NEW DELHI:  Even as his film ‘Bavli’, seeking to focus attention on the problem of child labour faced by the girl children in India, was screened in the capital this weekend, Director of the film Navin Aggarwal says that working with child actors was challenging.

   Talking  on the sidelines of the special screening of the film, based on the theme of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’, Aggarwal said working with the child actors was always a challenging task but all care was taken on the sets of the film to make them comfortable.

    ”We have shot the film as per the convenience of the child actors. We used to shoot only when they were comfortable. Special arrangements were made for them on the sets for their comfort and enjoyment. We had to be patient while working with the children,” the filmmaker said.

   Produced by Prerna Agarwal and Vinaysheel, the movie is filled with fun for children. He said that along with the producer Prerna Aggarwal, he has done a lot of  theatre with children. It was  an experience that proved useful while shooting the film with children. Prerna Aggarwal said they faced some problems due to demonetisation which was announced the day the shooting of the film began but she got a lot of cooperation from the film team.

”There have been a lot of documentaries on the subject but it is for the first time we have attempted a feature film on the subject,” Prerna said. She said the purpose of the film was not to earn money but spread awareness among the public about the theme of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’.

”We plan to send the film to film festivals,” she said. ‘Bavli’, a children’s feature film inspired by an incredible true story of a small girl falling victim to the problem of child labour, was screened in the national capital this weekend.

Directed by Navin Kumar, the director of a theatre group, Purvabhyas Natya Sansthan, ‘Bavli’ is inspired by a true story. Based on the concept of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’, ‘Bavli’  promotes the concept of saving and educating a girl child by another child in a unique way. ‘Bavli’ is filled with fun for the children.

It is story of a small girl child Laxmi who gets deprived of her childhood and a feeling of love after she becomes a victim of the social evil of child labour. However, with time her circumstances undergo a change and  and she gets started on her journey of enjoying life. She not only gets rescued by a small boy Ganesh but also finds a lovable family for her.

It is a must watch as it opens eyes of the society to the problems of girl children forced into child labour due to extreme conditions in life. (AGENCIES)
