UDHAMPUR, Mar 31: The inhabitants of Madhyal village of Badhota area in tehsil Panchari are suffering because of unprecedented delay in construction of a footbridge over Madhyal Nallah, which was started three year ago.
According to the locals, construction of this footbridge was started in 2016 by the Rural Development Department but the work was stopped after a few months for the reasons best known to the concerned authorities.
In absence of the footbridge, the villagers, including women, elderly and school going children have to face tough times and risk their lives while crossing the stream. “Due to heavy snow fell in high reaches water level in the stream has increased thus making the children to cross the stream almost impossible without the help of elders,” the villagers said adding that students of Government Middle School Chai and Government Primary School Mandyal have no option other than to cross this stream daily for reaching their school and vice-versa.
The villagers, including Raj Kumar, Krishan Singh, Panch Subash Singh, Des Raj Chail Singh Bansi Lal, Shanker Dass informed that they approached the concerned department and District authorities several times, but no action was taken to re-start the work on this incomplete footbridge.
