Women deserve credit for survival of community in exile: Ambardar

JAMMU, May 9: BJP MLC Surinder Ambardar today said that if at all anyone has to be credited for the survival of the displaced community living in exile then it has to be given to the women of the community who despite all odds stood like a solid rock and faced every hardship and adversity with grit and conviction.
The MLC was speaking at an event “Women in Exile” (proud to preserve identity) organised by the women wing of BJP Kashmiri displaced district at Jammu.
While addressing the large gathering of women folk said that historians can’t afford to ignore the role of the women living in exile in preserving not only their own identity but the identity of the whole community. It was because of these women members of the community that our children got best of the upbringing and our present crop of engineers, doctors, managers, CEOs, doctorates and entrepreneurs owe it to them, “he added.
Ambardar also said that women of displaced community played a vital role in keeping our traditions and ritual alive as we as individuals had only to bear our personal pain of exile but our female folk had to bear her pain of exile, her family’s pain of exile and that too by keeping a smile on face and running all the affairs with care and subtleness for which I bow in front of them” , he added.
Others who spoke on the occasion were Prof Meenakshi Kilam who also appreciated the role of the women in preserving the identity while living in exile.
Veena Grutoo president ASKPC Women Wing Shoki Lidhoo, Ruby Matoo,Kusum Koul and Jaswinder Kour all members of BJP Kashmir displaced district addressed the function.
TN Bhat president BJP DKD presided over the function.
