JAMMU, May 9: An impressive Shobha Yatra was taken out in the city of temples in connection with Bhagwan Parshuram Jyanti celebrations here today.
A grand function was organised by the Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha, Parade Ground here to celebrate the occasion. Today was the second day of the celebrations. In the morning, a `Yagya’ was performed at Sabha Bhawan, Chankya Chowk Parade. A large number of people including women and children participated in it. A community langar was also arranged by the management committee of the Sabha. It was followed by `Bhajan-Kirtan’ by the devotees arrived here from various parts of Jammu and surrounding villages and towns.
At around 3 PM, an impressive Shobha Yatra was taken out from Parade Ground. Several tableaux of Bhagwan Parshuram, on the highly decorated vehicles/ trolleys were witnessed during the Jhanki. Shobh Yatra after passing through Moti Bazaar, Pacca Danga, Chowk Chabutra, Panjtirthi, Darbargarh, Jain Bazaar, Link Road, Purani Mandi, City Chowk, Kanak Mandi, Rajinder Bazaar, Veer Marg, Raghunath Bazaar and Shalamar later concluded at Parade Ground.
A large number of people from all walks of life including women and children participated in the Shobha Yatra. They were raising slogans in the praise of Bhagwan Parshuram. Some people in the Jhanki were singing devotional songs. Different Jhankis depicting the rolls played by different incarnations of God were shown. Ganga Dhar Shastri, a renowned Saint along with followers with the Jhanki of Sidheshwar Dwarka Nath Shastri Ji Maharaj was also part of Shobha yatra.
MLA Jammu West and State president of BJP Sat Sharma, MLA East Rajesh Gupta, V P Sharma president Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha, Verinder Mohan Magotra, PC Sharma, Chander Mohan Sharma, Surinder Sharma, J N Sharma, Sat Pal Sharma, K L Sharma, Mahant Hur Dutt Sharma, Subhash Shastri, besides president Rajput Sabha Naranyan Singh, Vinod Gupta- president Mahajan Sabha; Piran Ditta, president Guru Ravi Dass Sabha; president Aggarwal Sabha, Sanatan Dharam Sabha and heads of various other Sabhas and organisations also attended the programme.
