Srinagar, Mar 20: A woman who immolated herself in North Kashmir’s Sopore area on Wednesday succumbed to her injuries at a hospital today.
A police spokesman said a woman of Mahrajpora, Sopore, died today at SMHS Hospital in Srinagar.
“Police have already registered a case in this regard and investigation into what led the woman to suicide is ongoing.”
The spokesman said the body of 13-year-old girl of Dandarkhah, Batamaloo, who ended her life by jumping into river Jehlum from Amira Kadal Srinagar on Wednesday is yet to be retrieved.
“Police and Disaster Management Authority have launched a search operation but they are yet to make any breakthrough in the case”, the spokesman said.
The spokesman said that due to recent snow and rains, the level of water has risen in Jehlum which has made the fishing operation difficult. “It is not clear why the girl jumped into the river,” the spokesman said.
