JAMMU, Mar 24: A woman allegedly committed suicide by setting herself ablaze in Digiana area, falling under the jurisdiction of Satwari police station.
As per police sources, a woman namely Sarabpal Kour, wife of Ravinder Singh of Digiana set herself ablaze after a quarrel with her husband over a trivial issue today.
She was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where she failed to respond to the treatment and succumbed to her burn injuries.
The body was handed over to family members for last rites after completing legal formalities.
The husband of the victim also received burn injuries while rescuing her wife and was also admitted in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for treatment.
A bottle filled with kerosene oil was found near the sight of the incident and might be the case of murder, but could be ruled out after investigation completes.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at police station Satwari and investigation started.
