Srinagar, Aug 14: A woman scooty rider and a pedestrian were killed after being hit by passenger buses, while 15 other commuters have been injured in the Valley.
A police spokesman said a woman who was riding a scooty, JK01S/7289, was hit by a minibus, JK01C/5025, at Lalmandi crossing in Wazirbagh.
She has been identified as Shazia Shafi daughter of Mohammad Shafi Najar of Dabtal, MR Gang.
“She was shifted to SMHS, Srinagar for treatment where she succumbed to her injuries,” the spokesman said.
A pedestrian, Abdul Gani Shah son of Abdullah Shah of Gang Bugh, Kupwara, was killed after a bus JK01E/7915 hit him at By-Pass road in Kupwara.
The spokesman said Shah was shifted to Sub District Hospital, Kupwara for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries.
Nine passengers were injured in a collision between a Sumo JK03A/6708 and Xylo cab JK01Q/1866 at Vessu in Qazigund. All the injured persons were shifted to District Hospital, Anantnag for treatment.
A Maruti car driver, Mohammad Ishaq son of Abdul Rahim of Wussan, was injured when a bus JK01C/9633 hit his Maruti car JK01P/7783 at Wussan near a petrol pump in Ganderbal, resulting in injuries to Mohammad Ishaq son of Abdul Rahim of Wussan who was traveling in the maruti car. The injured was shifted to PHC Wussan for treatment.
In another road accident, a Sumo JK01E-2735 hit a motor cycle Kmr-5R-649 at Arampora, Handwara, resulting in injuries to the motor cyclist Nazir Ahamd Sheikh son of Habibullah Sheikh of Ananwan Langate. The injured was shifted to Sub District Hospital Kupwara, where from he was shifted to Bone & Joint Hospital, Srinagar for further treatment.
An Eco sports car JK01W/0867 hit a motorcycle JK01U/9371 at bus stand Batamaloo near Labour Sarai Complex, resulting in injuries to the motorcyclist Shabir Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Qadir of Nowgam. The injured was shifted to a hospital for treatment.
A Tavera cab JK03C/7794 hit a motorcycle JK13B/4139 at Kathsoo in Srigufwara, Anantnag resulting in injuries to a motorcyclist Nisar Ahmad Ganai son of Abdul Rehman Ganaie of Kathsoo. The injured was shifted to SKIMS Soura, Srinagar for treatment.
A Tavera cab JK03C/5524 hit a motor cycle JK03C/0879 at Kadlabal in Pampore resulting in injuries to the motorcyclist Sajad Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Shafi of Drangbal, Pampore and his pillion Shahid Tariq son of Tariq Ahmad of Fristabal, Pampore. Both the injured were shifted to hospital for treatment.
The spokesman said police has registered cases in these accidents.
