JAMMU, Feb 8: A woman was killed in fresh spell of heavy mortar shelling and firing by Pakistan army on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district today. The Indian side retaliated shelling and firing effectively. Click here to watch video
Official sources said Pakistan started heavy mortar shelling and firing with automatic and small fire arms at Krishna Ghati, Mankote and Balakote sectors in Poonch district at 4.20 pm. The shelling and firing continued till 6.30 pm. The Indian side retaliated very effectively at all three places.
A woman Zainab Bi wife of Nazir Hussain was hit by splinters or mortar shell, which exploded near her house in Balnoi and died on spot.
Her body has been shifted to hospital for post-mortem.
Sources said fresh spell of shelling and firing left the people panicked as they again confined themselves to their houses and bunkers.
