Woman ends life by jumping into Tawi; youth found dead

UDHAMPUR, May 25: A young woman committed suicide by jumping into Tawi river at village Samarhy, near Samroli in Tehsil Chenani, here this morning while an unidentified youth was found dead near Dudar Bridge in Rehambal.
Reports said that Sushma Devi (40), wife of Subhash Kumar of village Samroli, jumped into Tawi river around 7 am and got washed away in the stream of water.
Later, the dead body was recovered after hectic search operation for two hours by police and villagers. The body was shifted to Sub District Hospital Chenani for postmortem and then handed over to the family for last rites.
Cause of provocation behind committing suicide could not be ascertained while police has registered a case in this connection, under Section 174 of IPC.
Meanwhile, mystery shrouded death of an unidentified youth, whose half naked dead body was found near Dudar bridge, under the jurisdiction of Rehambal Police Station.
The body was spotted by some locals, who informed the Police. Later the dead body was shifted to District Hospital Udhampur for identification and other legal formalities.
In another incident, a truck driver was found dead near his vehicle under mysterious circumstances at village Kakrai in Majalta. The deceased was identified as Brij Mohan, son of Radha Sham of village Sunatar, Ramnagar.
Reports said that the deceased driver, who was sleeping on top of cabin of the truck, bearing registration number UP14AHT-1645 and stranded on the roadside, suddenly fell down and died. On being informed by the locals, Police shifted the dead body to PHC Majalta and registered a case in this connection.
