Woman dies, 47 test +ve in Ladakh; 232 new cases in J&K

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/LEH, Feb 17: No COVID casualties were reported in Jammu and Kashmir today where 232 persons tested positive while a woman died and 47 positives were detected in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
An 82-year-old woman hailing from Shimsa in Kharbu area of Kargil district succumbed to the virus today taking Corona toll in Ladakh to 228 including 168 in Leh and 60 in Kargil.
Out of 47 fresh COVID positive cases in Ladakh, 38 were reported in Leh district and nine in Kargil.
Ladakh now has 467 active positive cases—374 in Leh and 93 in Kargil.
Corona count in Ladakh has gone up to 27641. Out of them, 26946 have been treated.
Among 232 fresh cases in J&K 162 were registered in Jammu division and 70 in Kashmir.
Jammu district reported highest 85 new cases followed by 31 in Ramban, 29 Doda, five Rajouri, four Kishtwar, three each in Samba and Kathua and one each in Udhampur and Poonch districts.
Reasi district didn’t report any cases today.
As against 162 cases, 324 recovered from the virus further bringing down number of active positive cases in Jammu region to 1459.
Jammu region now has 1,65,140 Corona cases. Among them, 1,61,358 have recovered from the virus while there were 2323 casualties.
Of 1459 active positive cases, Jammu district has highest 559 followed by 417 in Doda, 148 Ramban, 80 Kathua, 56 Reasi, 48 Samba, 44 Rajouri, 41 Poonch, 34 Udhampur and 32 in Kishtwar district.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 cases in Kashmir have come down and today 70 fresh cases were reported.
Those who tested positive include 40 from Srinagar, 8 from Baramulla, 5 from Budgam, 5 from Kupwara, 3 from Anantnag, 4 from Bandipora, 1 from Ganderbal and 4 from Kulgam.
With fresh cases, the number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 286,652 including 282,711 recoveries and 2,422 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 2,978 including 1,519 from Kashmir division.
With 937 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 444,069 which is 98.29 percent of the total cases.
