REASI, Feb 8: Delay in issuance of Sehat Card led to murder a 45-year-old woman, who was beaten to death by operator of a Khidmat Centre at Salal, here today.
The deceased was identified as Babli Devi, wife of Thakkar Dass, resident of Salal, who was working in a private school at Reasi.
Police has arrested the accused, identified as Parveen Singh, who runs a Khidmat Centre at Salal. He allegedly hit the woman with a wooden log following some verbal dual between the two resulting into death of the victim on the spot.
Reports said that the incident took place this morning when the deceased was waiting at Salal for boarding a bus to Reasi and saw accused Parveen Singh passing nearby. As the woman sought to know the status of her Aayushman Bharat Sehat Card, registered at Khidmat Centre of the accused, the later entered into an argument with the former. Soon the accused lost his temper and attacked the woman with a wooden log. The woman was hit on her head resulting into her death on the spot.
On being informed, Police rushed to the spot and shifted the dead body to hospital for postmortem besides arresting the accused.
A case in this regard has been registered at Police Station Reasi and further investigation is going on.
