JAMMU, Apr 1: Akhnoor and Bagh-e-Bahu Police arrested two persons including a woman along with large quantity of illicit liquor.
As per police sources, a team from Police Station Akhnoor led by SHO Inspector Ravi Parihar laid a naka at Sungal Thathi area and intercepted a pedestrian, who was moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police team recovered 28 quarters of illicit liquor from the possession of the pedestrian and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Mukesh Sharma, son of Rattan Lal, a resident of Sungal Thathi Tehsil Akhnoor.
During preliminary investigation, it came to fore that the accused used to sell liquor illegally for undue profit.
A case under FIR Number 91/2021 under Section 48-F Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Akhnoor and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu led by SHO Inspector Kirti Sharma during checking intercepted a woman.
During frisking, police team recovered 70 quarters of illicit liquor from the possession of the woman and arrested him.
The arrested lady has been identified as Sunita, wife of Jeet, a resident of Qasim Nagar, District Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 28/2021 under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu and investigation initiated.
