Woes of war widows

Sir,
Refer article ‘Woes of war widows’ published in the Sunday Magazine of the Daily Excelsior dated 8 Nov, 2020.
The author deserves all appreciation for highlighting an issue about which no one was bothered: Veer Nari (or woman of courage)- that’s what a military widow is called in official parlance.
These war widows face numerous problems as has been highlighted in the write-up by the author. Though army is committed to look after these Veer Naris and is doing what is upto it, it at the same time becomes a duty of the citizens to come forward for assistance whichever way they can do their bit in this task.
A soldier lays his life for the sake of the nation happily and proudly when he has a feeling in mind that his family will be looked after by the countrymen after his martyrdom. Going by the volatile situation at both our borders- LAC and LOC particularly at LOC, periodically, one or two soldiers lay their lives for the nation. The latest being the martyrdom of 4 soldiers in Keran sector of Kupwara. I am hopeful that the nation will not let the sacrifices of the soldiers go in vain, and their families encounter any problem.
