Will fight for dignity of people: Lone

SRINAGAR, Apr 17: The Chairman of People’s Conference (JKPC), Sajad Gani Lone, today said that he is committed to restore dignity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and aims to bring them on par with people from other parts of the country.
While speaking to reporters in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district, Lone underscored his commitment to empowering the people of J&K with the same rights enjoyed by people in other parts of the country. He emphasized that the gun has brought a lot of destruction to Jammu and Kashmir, leaving an army of orphans and widows in a helpless situation.
Taking a dig at former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, he said that Abdullah should reflect on what he and his party have done for the people of J&K.
Lone criticized Abdullah for categorizing the BJP into “good” and “bad,” likening it to the terms “good Taliban” and “bad Taliban.” “The one he is comfortable with is the good BJP while the other is bad. It was the late Vajpayee who rejected the resolution of internal autonomy and stated on the floor of the house that if the BJP had a majority, it would revoke Article 370 without delay,” he said.
Lone criticized Abdullah for continually disparaging people, stating that such behavior towards the people of North Kashmir would not be tolerated. He questioned Abdullah’s perspective, asking if he had forgotten the 1987 rigging incident.
He said the youth are being implicated in verification processes initiated by the police and other security agencies, causing panic among those not associated with any particular ideology. “This process applies only to Jammu and Kashmir, while youth from the rest of the country enjoy dignified lives,” he said.
He, however, attributed this harsh law to the National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir, questioning the fairness of targeting youth whose relatives were associated with militancy in the past. “I pledge to work towards resolving this situation,” he said.
