Srinagar, Dec 30:A woman and her lover have been arrested in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district over charges of murdering her husband, police said.
He said on December 21 this year police was informed about the body of Abdul Rashid Dar found hanging from a tree in the orchard in Motargam village near Kharnad in Kulgam.
“Police rushed to the spot and started investigation to ascertain the cause of the death. The autopsy of the body revealed that the deceased had torture marks on the private parts and his neck was broken,” police official said.
During the course of investigation suspected persons of the village were questioned.
He said that it came to fore that Ali Mohammad Dar, a resident of the village, had developed illicit relations Rashid’s wife Muzmila Akhter.
“Both of them were arrested and during sustained questioning the duo revealed that the deceased had become a hurdle in their affairs and they hatched conspiracy against the deceased and subsequently killed him mercilessly at his residence,” he said.
The duo revealed that they shifted Rashid’s body outside the village and hanged it on a tree to pass the death as suicide.
