NEW DELHI, Apr 20: Firm conditions prevailed on the wholesale grains market today as wheat and rice basmati prices rose up to Rs 100 per quintal on increased buying by flour mills and stockists.
Marketmen said fresh buying by flour mills to meet the festival and marriage season demand mainly led to rise in wheat prices but arrival of new crop in mandies, limited the rise.
They said stockists buying against restricted arrivals from producing regions helped rice basmati prices to end higher.
In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) rose by Rs 30 to Rs 1,465-1,470 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher by the same margin to Rs 1,470-1,475 per 90 kg.
In the rice section, rice basmati common and Pusa-1121 variety also moved up by Rs 100 each to Rs 8,000-8,100 and Rs 7,700-8,400 per quintal, respectively.

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,000, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice, 9,500, Basmati common new 8,000-8,100, Rice Pusa-(1121) new 7,700-8,400, Permal raw 2,300-2,550, Permal wand 2,500-2,600, Sela 3,500-3,600 and Rice IR-8 1,900-1,950, Bajra 1,450-1,455, Jowar yellow 1,500-1,550, white 2,200-2,400, Maize 1,590-1,600, Barley 1,300-1,320, Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
