SAMBA, Apr 2: Wheat crop over eight kanals of land was destroyed in fire at Harsath village in Ghagwal tehsil of Samba district today.
The fields belonged to Ram Pal, son of Amar Chand of Harsath village of Samba. His standing wheat crop on eight kanals of land in Harsath, Ghagwal, on the banks of the canal, was burnt to ashes. The fire broke out at about 4 pm. The local people informed the Fire Brigade and it managed to control the fire in 15 minutes and prevent it to spread in other fields.
As per the local farmers had the fire brigade vehicle not reached in time, it would have caused more damage to adjoining fields.
