What is Congress rejoicing about, asks BJP

JAMMU, Oct 25: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has hit back at Congress for drawing momentary pleasure from the results of local BDC elections and the State elections in Haryana and Maharashtra.
As far as the BDC elections are concerned, Congress conceded defeat even without contesting because it could not find candidates willing to contest on its symbol, stated Dr. Narinder Singh, State general secretary of the party. Congress is losing election after the election in the States but rather than introspecting and finding reasons for its continued dismal performance, it draws sadistic pleasure in pointing fingers at BJP, added Dr Narinder.
“We are quite happy with this attitude of Congress because we are a cadre based party and will continue our winning spree with expected ups and downs since such lows and ebbs are part and parcel of democracy.
Dr Singh said “BJP believes in direct and fair contests rather than fielding proxy candidates so that when they lose the party’s image doesn’t suffer. It is an indirect assault on democracy. But for how long will you be able to befool the people like this, questioned” Dr Narinder?
Apart from 52 elected Chairmen on party symbol, six Independents backed by the Party and more than a dozen rebel candidates have also been elected in the Jammu region. As far as Kashmir is concerned, we have made history by 18 candidates winning on party symbol, 20 who contested without party symbol seats and 22 Independents backed by us also being elected. It is a matter of pride for the Party that BDC chairperson from Sopore belongs to our party. Four candidates on party symbol and two backed by us won for the first time in Kargil and in Leh we won seven Councils, he added.
Our stand on abrogation of Articles 370 & 35A also stands vindicated since none of the candidates opposed the same, asserted Dr. Narinder Singh.
As far as the State elections are concerned Congress has been relegated to fourth position in Maharashtra and BJP has emerged clear cut winner. But yet the Congress claims “moral victory” on what ground astonishes the people who not only rejected them but routed them? In Haryana, Congress’ performance has proved that the party cannot do without casteist politics but can do without the Gandhi-Vadra family, remarked, Dr. Narinder Singh.
