West Assembly Movement takes out protest rally

JAMMU, Feb 1: A protest rally was taken out from Amphalla, Mian Dido Chowk, at BC Road, Rehari Chungi, to High Court Janipur road, against the failure of the Government, PWD, R&B, ERA, Traffic Department, Jammu Municipal Corporation and JDA to solve the rising “traffic problem”, in the Winter Capital.
Besides prominent citizens, irate traders, residents, of Janipur, Amphalla, New Plot, Sarwal, Rehari, Subash Nagar, Bakshi Nagar, Talab Tillo, Canal Road, Jewal Chowk participated in the rally and disrupted the traffic for one hour. They also staged dharnas on various spots. The people raised slogans against the PWD, R&B, ERA, JMC for swindling the crores of rupees on the name of development.
Sunil Dimple president Jammu West Assembly Movement warned the Government that if it replaced and transferred the auto permits to the Nano car in the Jammu city it will complicate the situation further.
He said the city is already facing the huge traffic problem and there is no space on the roads to drive the vehicles and the Nano car will add more problems if converted in to auto services.
Sunil Dimple demanded the construction of the fly overs at Rehari Chungi, Jewel Chowk and Vikram Chowk. Expressed the serious concern over the growing out of control traffic problems “due to half heartedly” steps taken by the Government” for the improvement in the traffic system.
He urged the Chief Minister to stop the sale of the matadors, minibuses permits in the Jammu city as these minibuses have created traffic problems.
He also demanded metro service, Mono Rail be started from Jammu city to joining adjoining towns and construction of circular roads to solve the traffic problem faced by the people of Jammu city.
He said the traffic signals have been closed in the City due to lack of traffic policy on the part of Government and the crores of rupees have been wasted, which were spent on these lights.
