Weeklong AICTE-ISTE FDP begins at SMVDU

KATRA, Dec 26: AICTE-ISTE sponsored one-week Faculty Development Programme on Thermoelectric Materials and Applications for Energy Harvesting and Power Generation began today at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU).
For the FDP, which was inaugurated by President (ISTE), Prof Pratap K Desai, more than 80 faculty members have been registered from the leading Indian institutions.
Prof E Muthusamy, Dean, Faculty of Sciences, SMVDU, informed that 16 sessions during a weeklong FDP would be delivered by the eminent speakers from IIT Mandi, IIT Hyderabad, NPL Delhi, JNACSR Bengaluru, MNIT Jaipur, IIT Madras, CSIR Lab.
Prof Desai stressed for clean energy conversion technology to meet the national target, which is emission-free India in 2070. The young faculties should motivate the students and researchers to develop innovative products and patentable, he added.
Prof Ramesh Chandra Mallik (IISc) delivered his guest of honour address on the newer development of advanced thermoelectric materials to enhance thermoelectric performance in energy conservation. Prof Ashok Kumar Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Sciences, talked about the importance of carbon-free fuels compared to hydrocarbon fuels.
Prof R K Sinha, Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU delivered the presidential address while focusing on the importance of continuous learning to solve problems with a scientific approach.
Dr Sanjeev Ananad, School of Energy Management, SMVDU, delivered a formal vote of thanks.
