Week-long celebrations under “Azaadi-70” begin at ICccR & HRM

JAMMU, Aug 13: Under the theme ‘Azaadi-70–Yaad Karo Kurbani’ declared by Government of India, week-long celebrations began at International Centre for Cross Cultural Research and Human Resource Management (ICccR & HRM), University of Jammu.
Professor R D Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, was the chief guest on the occasion, who declared the event open by unveiling the banner of ‘Azaadi-70, Yaad Karo Kurbani’.
The celebrations began with painting of the canvas titled ‘Sadbhavna’ and tricolored pots by the Vice Chancellor along with the students of MBA: International Business (MBA-IB) in the presence of Professor Neelu Rohmetra, Director ICccR & HRM and the faculty.
MBA (IB) students also presented a brief cultural programme, inspirational poetry and conducted quiz on the national patriotic theme.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof R D Sharma applauded the efforts of the students at the International Centre in taking this initiative at the departmental level to mark the celebrations of the nationwide campaign to promote the spirit of patriotism. He said that such endeavours re-instil the spirit of freedom struggle and national movement among the younger generation.
He added that such activities help in building national character amongst the students and inspire them to become better citizens. Prof Sharma also recalled the struggle of freedom fighters on the occasion.
Earlier, speaking on the occasion, Professor Neelu Rohmetra, Director, ICccR & HRM complemented the MBA (IB) students and faculty at ICccR & HRM for their week long initiative to celebrate 70th year of independent India and commemorating the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and their struggle.
She advised the students to cherish national spirit and live disciplined lives in their bid to serve the societal goals better. Prof Rohmetra informed that the week-long celebrations which include the engagement of MBA (IB) students with security forces, old age homes, Bal Gran children, etc shall essentially prove useful in their holistic development, to understand situations and concerns in larger contexts in managing organisations and self alike.
Among others, the function was attended by Dr Neeraj Sharma, Special Secretary to Vice Chancellor, faculty members and staff of ICccR & HRM, students and security personnel of University of Jammu.
