SRINAGAR: A day after four service rifles went missing from the house of Congress MLC Mohammed Muzzafar Parray in the summer capital, Srinagar, the police department on Monday fired four Personal Security Officers (PSOs) for dereliction of duty.
Four AK-47 rifles went missing from the guard room of Mr Parray’s official residence at Jawahar Nagar in Srinagar on Sunday.
A police spokesperson said that four police personnel, who were deployed as PSOs with Mohammed Muzzafar Parray, have been dismissed from service for dereliction of duties and remaining absent without authorisation.
“The decision to dismiss all the four policemen guarding the house of the MLC was taken after they were questioned on Sunday evening,” official sources said. (AGENCIES)
