WB native held for Rs 15 lakh fraud in Navy job scam

JAMMU, May 8: The Crime Branch of State police  arrested a native of  Purulia district in West Bengal for cheating  two Samba youth of  their Rs 15.50 lakh on the assurance of job in Navy in Mumbai.
The action was taken by the Jammu Crime Branch on the case FIR No. 86/ 2016 lodged by one Amit Singh, son of Darshan Singh, resident of Kehli Mandi  Samba, against one Pranabananda Mahato, son of Shib Shanker Mahato, resident of Konapara, Under Kenda Police Station in district Purulia of  West Bengal.
The complainant along with Sunil Singh, son of Pardeep Singh of Samba, through Arun Singh, son of Karan Singh Kehli Mandi, Samba, who   was  working in Merchant Navy at Mumbai allured  and insisted the complaint to visit Mumbai for getting a job in Navy. At Mumbai, Arun Singh introduced them to Pranabananda Mahato who introduced himself as the company head of Hindustan Protein Corporation, Pune and dealing with the settlement of unemployed youth in Italy having good connections in Navy and Merchant Navy.
Mahato received Rs 15.50 lakh from the youth with assurance to provide them job and then went underground after some time.  The youth were not provided any job and they started mounting pressure on Arun Singh for recovery of their money.
Later, they lodged an FIR with Crime Branch  in Jammu. The SSP Crime Branch constituted a special team and sent the team led by SI Ravi Parihar to Purulia (WB) and arrested the accused from there. He was brought here and further investigation was in progress.
