LEH, June, 19: In a heinous crime which had sent shock waves across Ladakh region, a minor child of 6 years was sexually abused by a hostel warden in Leh. The wicked warden not only sexually abused the child for days but also physically assaulted him causing grievous injuries on his body including his private parts.
The incident has been reported from Shey Lamdon Hostel where accused was working as Hostel Warden. The accused, who was earlier serving in the school as computer teacher since June 2013 however joined as hostel warden in March 2017 in the same school. Reliable sources informed that warden used to keep the child with him all the time and even used to bathe him and washed his clothes. The other two wardens in the school never dreamt this but they assumed that the warden (accused) loved him too much.
The child even had developed a trust in the warden and he was calling him as papa. The warden also took him to his residence at TR Camp No 4 Choglamsar on number of occasions to which school management never objected at all. Interestingly the school management Chairman is Hill Council Chairman Dr.Sonam Dawa.
Currently the child is admitted at SNM Hospital Leh and a team of four doctors have been constituted to monitor the child who is under a trauma.
Accused has been identified as 31 year old youth Tashi Gyatso who is resident of Tibetan Refugee (TR) Camp No 4 Choglamsar. Police had arrested the accused on June 16 and FIR 39 U/S 377 has been registered at Police Post Choglamsar. Currently he is under Police custody till June 21.
Responding to media queries School Principal L.Sonam said that hostel is not under his control as the management keeps the school and Hostel under different heads. So the Principal had not much interference in the hostel functioning. He however added that the accused had tarnished the image of the School.
He had reportedly bitten the child’s ears, legs and hands. The injuries were found all over his body. The incident came to fore on June 16 when some teacher noticed that child couldn’t walk properly during the morning assembly. When they inquired from him he narrated the horrifying tale of Warden and they immediately reported to the police.
