Wani reviews functioning of JKPCC

SRINAGAR, Nov 14: Minister for R&B, Abdul Majid Wani, who is also Chairman of the JKPCC, today convened a meeting of officers to review the pace of development works being undertaken by the Corporation.
While reviewing pace of various developmental projects being executed by JKPCC in the Valley, the meeting was informed that work in SPS Library involving a cost of Rs. 30.40 crores is apace while renovation under remodelling of Tagore Hall is near in completion.
The Minister was told that work on Palapora Foot Bridge is apace and is expected to be completed by the end of this year, while work on new Zaina Kadal bridge is in nearing completion and repair of old Zaina Kadal wooden bridge is also apace and Guzhama bridge is expected to be completed within a month.
He was also informed that work on Mini Secretariat at Tangmarg is apace at Rs. 41.67 crores. The work on additional block in Srinagar Civil Secretariat taken up at a cost of Rs. 28.75 crore is also apace and its completion is expected by April 2014.
It was given out that work on Eidgah prayer ground, repair of old Habba Kadal wooden bridge is nearing completion while work on JKSPDC’s Corporate office at Raj bagh, Srinagar is at pace at a cost of Rs. 4855.50 crore.
The Minister was informed that the corporation despite facing financial constraints in making every effort to complete project within targeted period. He was told that about Rs. 123 crore are outstanding against various departments on account of constructions of district hospital Baramulla and Sopore, various bridges and other developmental projects.
The Minister said that the matter regarding release of expended funds would be taken up with the Chief Minister.
The meeting was attended by the Managing Director, JKPCC, Deputy General Manager Kashmir Province and other concerned.
Later, the leaders of Corporations Employees Union met the Minister and put forth their demands. He assured them that their genuine demands would be fulfilled.
