JAMMU, July 19: Minister for R&B and MLA from Doda, Abdul Majid Wani has offered his seat to former Union Health Minister and top AICC leader Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Talking to Excelsior, Mr Wani said that Mr Azad being son of the soil has served this State in better way and initiated many development works particularly in Chenab valley region. Under his Chief Ministership State had witnessed massive development in just two and half years of time.
Mr Wani said after coming from a small village in Bhaderwah of district Doda, Mr Azad with his potential and hard work has emerged as a top national leader. He has brought great honour to the people of this area. The State needs his services. ” It will be a great honour to us if such a national personality contests elections from any of the seats in this Chenab region or any part of the State. Again, it will be great honour to him and the people of Doda, Azad Saheb agree to contest coming Assembly elections from Doda seat,” Mr Wani maintained.
The statement of senior Congress leader from Doda came, days after another senior Congress leader and MLA Bhaderwah Mohd Sharief Niaz, refused to sacrifice his seat for Mr Azad. Niaz in his reported statement had said that he did not want to become sacrificial goat every time. Somebody else in the party, should also show courage and come out to offer seat to Mr Azad.
It may be recalled that on earlier occasion Mr Niaz had offered his seat of Bhaderwah when he was Minister for Power during Mufti Sayeed led Coalition Government in the State. After the victory of Mr Azad, Mr Niaz could not be accommodated or rewarded for the sacrifice by the party.
