RAJOURI, Sept 17: Minister for Roads & Buildings, Abdul Majid Wani, who was on one-day extensive tour to Rajouri district, laid the foundation for 5 vitals bridges and link road today.
The link roads included various span bridges at Bathuni, Ahitti, Bowali, Behrote and Ziarat Shahdra Sharief besides link from main road to village Saaj. All these bridges are being constructed over Thanna Nallah. He said that with the completion of these projects the people would get easy access to their district headquarters.
The Minister also inaugurated a 34 meter span steel bridge at Saaj.
Minister of State for Health Shabir Ahmad Khan and Legislator Ravinder Kumar Sharma accompanied the Minister during the tour.
The Minister also addressed a series of public meetings in various areas of the district and reiterated resolve of the Government of ensuring road connectivity to un-connected habitations of the State. He said that Government has initiated various micro and mega road projects for rural areas under various Centrally sponsored schemes.
Wani along with Shabir and Ravinder paid obeisance at Ziarat Shahdara Sharief and prayed for peace, prosperity and communal harmony of the State.
Wani announced Rs. 20 lakh for construction of kitchen-cum-dinning hall complex at Ziarat Sharief.
Responding to demands of the locals regarding construction of more local roads to connect small villages, the Minister said that directions have already been passed to the concerned for formulation of DPRs in this regard. He said that repair and up-gradation of Rajouri-Thanna Mandi road would also be taken into consideration.
Regarding up-gradation of local schools, provision of adequate supply of power and water and opening of health centres, Mr. Wani said that these issues would be taken up with the concerned departments for an early action.
Addressing the gatherings, Mr. Shabir highlighted the achievements registered by the present Government under various reformative programmes in the State.
Legislator Ravinder Kumar Sharma also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the schemes of Central Government being extended to the people of the state.
Later, the Minister also chaired a joint meeting of officers of R&B, PMGSY and JKPCC and district administration. He got first hand appraisal of status of works project-wise and scheme-wise.
Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri F C Bhagat, gave a brief account of developmental activities being carried out in the district.
Among others, Managing Director, JKPCC, T R Bhagat, Chief Engineers, PMGSY, Hamid Sheikh besides senior engineers of line department and officers of civil and police officers of district administration accompanied the Minister.
