SRINAGAR, May 25: Former minister and the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples’ Conference leader, Abdul Gani Vakil today demanded comprehensive compensation in favour of the orchardists and farmers who suffered heavy losses due to recent hailstorm.
While visiting several villages of Rafiabad including Dazna,  Pazalpora, Kangroosa, Zethan, Pakhwara, Yarbug and Rawoocha, Vakil expressed serious concern over the damage caused to apple blossom and other standing crops due to recent heavy hail- storm.
Vakil alleged that whenever natural calamities cause damage to the fruit and crops, the worse affected are assured compensation and even surveys are conducted but no relief reaches to them.
Former minister urged the UT Government to go for immediate assessment of damages to fruit and disburse financial relief to the affected families without any delay as they have already suffered heavy losses.
“Waiving off the KCC loan is the need of the hour at this crucial juncture which can be helpful to a great extent in reviving the fruit industry which is in shambles and strengthening the fruit growers,” Vakil added.
He also expressed serious concern over the worst condition of roads especially from Dangiwacha to Pazalpora and said the Govt is totally ignoring demands of people which include repair of roads and waving off KCC loan to fruit growers.
