BARAMULLA, July 31: Member of Parliament, Muzaffar Hussain Baig today laid the foundation to develop Wagoora, a village in the North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, as a Model Village under centrally sponsored Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY), aimed to develop the basic infrastructure in rural areas.
Wagoora is the first village that was chosen under the SAGY for the development of basic amenities.

Legislators, Javed Hassan Beigh, Mohammad Abbas Wani, and Yasir Reshi, District Development Commissioner Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash, ADDC, JDP, Engineers of line departments and various other district and sectoral officers were present on the occasion.
The Member Parliament sought the cooperation and support of the public in developing the village as the Model Village replete with all the facilities of life. He said that about 50 centrally sponsored welfare schemes have been launched in the State by which the developmental infrastructure can be upgraded which will be helpful in poverty alleviation.
While citing the example of poverty alleviation and employment generating scheme MGNREGA, Muzaffar Baig said that the Centre is very keen with regard to the development of the State and the present Coalition Government has taken many initiatives in this regard.
Stressing upon the officers to work with added zeal and enthusiasm, he said that the SAGY will be implemented with full transparency. Meanwhile, the MP emphasized for timely disposal of public grievances and assured that every possible step will be taken in developing other villages of the area.
The MP was informed by the Assistant Commissioner Development Baramulla Mir Munawar Hussain that Rs 11.86 crore will be spent in various sectors for developing the basic structure of the Wagoora village. He said that the amount will be spent to upgrade the basic infrastructure of the village in Health and Medical Education, PHE, PDD, R&B, Education, Flood Control and other departments.
