UDHAMPUR, Jan 11: A meeting of the PHE employee of Bhomage section, was held here today under the chairmanship of Som Nath, senior vice-president of PHE Employees Association Jammu and district president of INTUC.
While addressing the meeting, Som Nath strongly criticized the Government for not releasing the pending wages of PHE worker, even on Lohri festival. There has been no wages to the workers for the last 30 months with the result that their families are virtually at the verge of starvation but the Government has turned a Nelson’s eye towards this issue, he said and demanded a separate head of wages in the State budget for timely payment to the workers in future.
He also highlighted several other demands of the PHE workers, like enforcement of Minimum Wages Act in PHE Department, regularization of workers, who have completed more than five years of service as daily wagers, conversion of Half Cadre posts as Full Cadre posts, change of designation as per actual working of the employees, release of 6 percent due DA, engagement in lieu of land donation etc.
Som Nath also appealed all the workers and employees of the Department to remain united for a struggle to get all their demands conceded by the Government.
Others, who addressed the meeting, included Vijay Kumar, Rattan Singh, Suraj Prakash, Makhan Chand, Sanjay Sharma, Rajinder Sharma. Som Raj Jandial, Ishar Dass, Sukh Ram, Shambu Nath, Shanker Singh, Parth Singh, Vinod Kumar, Rahspal Singh, Raghubir Singh and Kaka Ram.
Meanwhile, another meeting of PHE employees of Sounthian Station was held under the chairmanship of Vijay Kumar where similar demands were highlighted.
