JAMMU, Apr 4: Vivekanand Vichar Manch (VVM), Jammu University today organized a impressive cultural evening at Jammu University with the theme ‘Ek Sham Shahidon ke Naam’, in which hundreds of students and many professors of Jammu University participated.
Professor Anurag Gangal from the Department of Political Science was the chief guest and Dr. Vikrant Sharma was the chief spokesperson during the event.
The chief guest, while addressing the students emphasised in inculcating the patriotic feelings among students and asked them to learn, adopt and continue the legacy left behind by our great freedom fighters.
Dr. Vikrant Sharma, Chief spokesperson in his speech asked the students to be vigilant against the anti national elements in the society. He advised the students to build a strong nationalist character to safeguard the integrity and sovereignty of the nation and to and contribute in the development of the nation.
Deepak Sharma, convenor of the Vivekanand Vichar Manch, Jammu University while giving reference of the recent incident of NIT Srinagar, demanded establishment of a Nodal Office at Srinagar to handle the security and other issues of the non local students studying in the State especially Srinagar. He insisted that the Nodal Office be connected directly with MHRD and MHA so that the non local students feel safe and in case of any issue they can directly approach the Nodal Office.
Giving reference of the recent remarks made by President Pranab Mukarje while speaking at a university in Dehradun, where the President has asked the academic institution to instil feeling of patriotism among students, Deepak demanded that a statue of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru and Sukdev be built in Jammu University campus so that the students can be inspired of their sacrifices .
During the event Students presented partriotic songs, poems and a inspiring Skit on the life of Bhagat Singh , Sukhdev and Rajguru . Des Raj with his team presented a melodious patriotic song.
