JAMMU, Mar 10: Vomedh Theatre group staged its recent production ‘Gadd Bateh’ in a Cultural event organized by Kashmiri Pandits’ Association Mumbai at Rang Sharda Auditorium in Mumbai.
Another highlight of the Cultural event was the scintillating performance of accomplished Santoor Maestros Padamshree Pt Bajan Sopori and Abhay Rustum Sopori.
The Mayor of Mumbai, Sunil Prabhu was the chief guest on the occasion.
The event witnessed a huge turnout of Kashmiri Pandits in and around Mumbai and turned out to be a star studded evening in presence of celebrities including Bhajan Samrat, Anup Jalota; Actor/ Producer, Rahul Bhat; Director, Sudhir Mishra; Director, Ashok Pandit; Singer, Nirja Pandit and current heart throb, Mohit Raina, the Mahadev.
The play ‘Gadd Bateh’, directed by Rohit Bhat and written by Rakesh Roshan Bhat was highly appreciated by the audience. The play was earlier also staged in prestigious Shuhul Taaph Festival in Delhi recently.
The play revolves around a Kashmiri Pandit who celebrates all the festivals to keep his culture alive in exile, but has not been able to celebrate ‘Gadd Bateh’ in particular, because he didn’t own a house for 20 years in Jammu. Now, that when he owns a house, he wants to celebrate Gadd Bateh without any fuss.
Gadd Bateh cast included Rakesh Tickoo, Kusum Dhar, Daisy Bazaz, Rahul Kilam, Rohit Bhat, Vinod Bhushan and Vishal Hanjura. The performance of Rakesh Tickoo as Kanya Lal was highly applauded by the audience.
It is pertinent to mention here that ‘Vomedh’ has been founded by young theatre enthusiast Rohit Bhat in Jammu in the year 2009 and is contributing to amateur theatre movement in Jammu and getting noticed by one and all for its good work.
