JAMMU, Mar 9: Reaffirming its commitment to the cause of women empowerment, Vodafone J&K Circle, today, marked the International Women’s Day with a panel discussion on the theme “Pledge for Parity- Be Bold for the Change.”
The panel discussion organised in association with the ‘The Business School (TBS), Jammu University, focussed on the issue of gender disparity that exists in the society at different levels, be it household or workspace. The objective was to try and find solutions to this problem through the intellectual discussion and thought sharing at the panel discussion and at the same time encouraging women and men, both, to make efforts to bring about the desired change. Vodafone customers, employees, the university students and faculty were invited by Vodafone to attend the panel discussion which was held at the campus of TBS, Jammu University.
Sharing his thoughts on the initiative, Rajat Avasthi, Business Head- J&K, Punjab and HP, Vodafone India, said, “A responsible corporate, Vodafone India strongly believes in gender equality and equal opportunities for all which reflects in our policies. We have implemented policies and practices to ensure a safe and secure working environment for our women employees, enabling them to aspire for their career ambitions and thrive and succeed in a competitive and secure environment. At the same time, we want to spread this culture of equality at a societal level to help shape a society where there is no gender disparity and women enjoy equal freedom and opportunities in all walks of life.
The prominent women professionals from J&K who graced the panel included Alka Sharma (Dean, The Business School, Jammu), Sughanda Mahajan (KPS), Sarita Chouhan (IAS), Rehana Batool (KAS), Seema Khajuria (Advocate), Annu Malhotra (KAS), Supinder Kaur (Sr. gynecologist), Shashi Koul (Prof., Home science) and Dipali Wattal.
