JAMMU, Aug 10: Jammu and Kashmir Vishwakarma Sabha (Lohar-Tarkhan) Jammu held a meeting here today under the chairmanship of Rakesh Kumar Verma, president of the Sabha and highlighted the long pending demand of the community for implementation of Mandal Commission recommendations in J&K.
The meet expressed its resentment over non-implementation of reservation policy in J&K Union Territory till date notwithstanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public announcement for the same during his election campaign at Hiranagar in 2014.
“We again remind to implement the Mandal Commission report in toto to protect the helpless weaker sections of the Society with mutual love, trust, respect and without further delay,” said the Sabha.
The meet also discussed the report of Kaka Kelkar Commission, which was the first Commission of Backward Classes and had recommended reservation of 70 seats in all Technical and Professional Institutions for qualified students of Backward classes besides special economic measures to uplift the OBC through land reforms, development of live stock, dairy farming, cattle insurance, bee keeping etc.
The meeting was attended by Madan Lal Chalotra, G L Chanda, Sandeep Dogra, Ved Parkash, Manohar Lal, Suraj Parkash, Romesh Chander, Parmanand, Prabhjot Singh and others.
